Everyone’s experience that familiar energy crisis in the afternoon when all you want to do is curl up and take a nap. The next time it hits instead of heading to the vending machine for a quick sugary pick me up or downing or a big cup of coffee, try some of this simple energizing moves that you can do at the office.
Take a one to three minutes walk around your office building and if there are stairs, use them. If you can’t get away from desk, standup and jump or jog in place or try some chair aerobics. First, pump your arms overhead then twist at the waist, punching your arms out across your body, side to side. Follow that up with some toe taps or heel lifts or how about a sited jog.
Sit in a chair with heels. Place your hand, shoulder with the part at the end of your desk for a great back stretch. Grip the desk with the fingers on top and the thumbs underneath with your feet off the floor. And your abs tight, slowly push yourself away from the desk and lean forward from the hips until your head is between your arms. Then sit up and pull your self slowly towards the desk again. Repeat this exercise 12 to 15 times. Stand in front of your desk and place your hands slightly wider than shoulder with the part on the top of it. Walk your feet back until you’re an angled push up position. Bend your elbows out to the side as your lower your chest towards the desk. Keep your head back, hips and legs in line. Hold for two seconds and then push back up. Do 10 to 12 push ups.
Sit at the end of the chair with your feet flat on the floor for a great chest stretch. Take your hands on either side of the chair and then open up through the chest and heart as you extend through your spine and feel that nice stretch. Hold for a few seconds. After you do these exercises, you’ll be energized and ready to return to work.
