Erick Michielson: What is Daily Marauder?
Caroline Giegerich: The idea behind the behind the website was to aggregate information on digital media for Hollywood executives. And I started because I had started an email internal to a bunch of HBO executive’s just kind of aggregating different information that I was finding.
And so, I did just that I started sending a daily email and you know most people were really responsive to it. They’re like, this is great. This is exactly what we need then I decided to brand it because one day someone I use to work for was like, this is great. But you know what you’re calling it daily news, boring. Get a brand.
So anyway, I named it Daily Marauder because he's tribe called quest—
Erick Michielson: Yes.
Caroline Giegerich: Midnight Marauders fan love it. So Daily Marauder felt right because what I was really doing was going around the Internet if you will and you know grabbing different pieces of content—
Erick Michielson: Yeah.
Caroline Giegerich: And then putting them up on a website.
Erick Michielson: Sure.
Caroline Giegerich: And on an email newsletter. So then it became a website and a daily digest.
Erick Michielson: And Walla!
Caroline Giegerich: That’s how it happend and then I found—
Erick Michielson: You blog it too with his
Caroline Giegerich: Bloged it too
Erick Michielson: Boring.
Caroline Giegerich: Yeah, but you know it's started really boring, it was just straight up links and pictures and so—more and more people were like, we want more editorial. So I would do things like go out and try to find the best WiFi destinations in the city and write about them. But as with anything that I do, I’m not going to do it like this, I’m going to do it like this.
Erick Michielson: Right.
Caroline Giegerich: So more time commitment you know and so Daily Marauder eventually became a full blown job and I had a job. So it was a lot.
Erick Michielson: Wow.
