It is a good idea to something over the hole down here at the bottom of the tub to make sure the screws would not fall down in. Okay now, let me remove so I can show you what this looks like, you see how it is connected back here, I will pull that up okay and right here at the back, you see this spring I was telling you about?
Over here, that spring right here. Usually when that spring is rusty or broken or worn out, you still have a problem with the trip lever, so what you want to do is just take this part here—just this part. You know, I even need take this, take this part and everything with you, just this part right here.
Just take this little counter pin right here, I am going to grab a pliers and just take this little counter pin, slide on there, okay, just align right up. Okay, now this is it, this is the face plate, this is the back of it.
Okay, you can go to any just any store or any plumbing supply house and just buy just this part and that will eliminate the trip lever part, trip lever problems. See how this one works, this is good. Now you may have one that is worn out, the spring rusted out and just down or just looses, I do not know what part. It maybe corroded to where it is stuck and it is in one position—you might not have used it in while, maybe it is in a vacant house that you will see this.
But anyway, this is what you want to replace—the face plate. Just take it off, take it with you, it would just be like it, but you if you can not, be back in business.
