Hello and welcome to my YouTube video. My name is Stuart Mecham, on this episode I am going to show you using the Canon XL2 camcorder and a Glidecam Pro 4000, how to balance it out. Just in case you don't know what a Glidecam is, it's one of these -- okay, the first thing we want to do is take the viewfinder and microphone of the camera and the stock battery that comes with it. I have used five weights either side pushing onto them farthest points as you can see on the screen.
The next thing we want to do is attach the plate to the bottom of your camera. I have used the second to last middle hole, as the length of the plate forward to the camera. What we are going to do now is make sure that the camera pole is balanced. As you can see, I have got about six, so I can adjust from the bottom, because you want anything from to one-and-a-half plus seconds from the horizontal position to the vertical as you can see here.
Then the next thing we want to do is pick the camera and now obviously if the camera tilts either to the left, right, front or back, you want to adjust the mounting plate, which you take it forward, if it's back heavy, you want to push it backwards. If it's front heavy, you want to push it to the left. If it's right heavy, then you want to push it to the right, if it's left heavy. Pretty much what we want to achieve is when you pick the camera, the camera is not swaying and the pole is staying straight, well if you keep adjusting as until you are comfortable and you are satisfied.
Well, I hope that helps you setup your Glidecam, obviously if you have any questions, please feel free to email me on the email coming up on the screen at a moment. Obviously, I will say I am not a professional, I have not been professionally sold this product and it's quite possible that I am doing it completely wrong, so I will see if you have got any suggestions for me, on setting this product up, again email me and I would update the video, if necessary.
So, I thank you for watching.
