We are going to tear this ash fold drive way out here. It is obviously got problems, there is cracking, there is heaving in places but we are going to change the concrete but first of all, we got to take it out. But we are going to create something totally different, give it a whole new image here in the neighborhood, so let us get at it.
Well, I told you folks, it is going to be different and look what we got. No longer we got that big black sheet of ash fall here. Now, we are going to add more decoration to concrete, we do not want that gray looking parking lot of concreter either so we have added the stem, we have put a bud, we put some leaf, we got a flower.
We have taken 3H plywood, cut it into four inch strips, take in two inch nails, common nails, pounded them through the two layers of plywood into a grass surface that way, it allows the nail to project through. Then what we have done, we have taken a pair of pliers just bend over the points of the nails and then palmed it down on top of something hard like asphalt road, making it staple, making a good and supportive when I comes to the concrete, going into the form as you can see here.
Now, by using good sturdy stakes, like steel stakes, also here fill the contractors putting gravel, this way it access a dam holding and supporting that form when the concrete is placed in the form. When placing large areas of concrete, it is very important to have good drainage, and especially in the case of a drive way because that water is going to run especially like this one, the grade goes right towards the garage doors and we do not want that water in underneath the garage doors.
So, what we have chose to do here is put in a graded drain across the full width, that way picking up all the water as it runs down towards the garage doors and from about where I am here in the form there has been an actual pit put in so as to some pit, that way it is going to catch the water, allow a less set up to go to the bottom of some of the water to rise.
Now, you can see here, this is really where their work starts because the coloring is going out to the surface of the concrete it is spread by hand and then trawled into place and then this project is going to be three colors, a boarder color, a stem of the flower color and then a bud color on the flower.
Well, I am washing off the drive way, I am watering the flowers as well, well you know, did I not promised you the just great when it is all finished?
