College recruiting I think varies with each sport and it is quite different. As an example, for men’s football, it would be compared to girl’s lacrosse.
For girl’s lacrosse, I think it is critically important that you get yourself involved in a club program if you desire to play in the college level. There are numerous opportunities for club programs out there to showcase your skills within tournaments. Many college coaches cannot get at the high school games because their season is in direct conflict with the high school season, so they cannot get at the games. So they do a lot of the recruiting during summer and during fall when these club seasons occur.
Second thing is for players to get their name out there as far as emailing a coach, sending a resume, sending a fall or spring, or even a summer schedule, making sure the college coaches know what they need to do.
Third thing, which is an important one, if there is a school that you really desire to go to, go to the camp. If you really desire to go to University of Virginia, go to the Virginia Camp, make an impression on those coaches. Not only do the Virginia coaches work there but there will probably be handful of coaches from other schools that you may be able to impress also.
These are probably the best ways to get seen and the best ways to be recruited by a college coach
