How to build a cardboard vocal booth (yes, cardboard)
My home made vocal booth as you can see it's really, really crappy, and if it weren't for that noisy a** computer, it works really and seemingly well. So I would like to start to show you how I made it really quickly. As you can see it's basically like two boxes put together, a bunch of writing on it. Over here is, it's entitled the glory hole, you can see it. That's where the cables go through. I will show the inside and how fabulous it is. This is the door.
Of course, it's all fabric or it covers rather. Let me step inside. It's actually not so bad, and right here this is all memory foam padding that I got a big lots. I got like a whole sheet of it for like 30 bucks. So I cut it in half, and this is the right wall. Then up here is this random patching at the top of what did have. Over here is the left one. There is a bunch of blankets and stuff here, but behind that is the foam padding as well. Doors are padded a little bit and most importantly I stuffed that cracks, so that sound couldn't leak. Then this back wall, is just a piece of cardboard with several layers of the blankets. You normally are supposed to use like carpets, because they really have a back wall. It's the most important, but I didn't have any at times so I just used a whole bunch of like configurers and so forth.
Anyways, this vocal booth cost worth 30 bucks for the foam, memory foam and other than that everything else was free and stuff that I had around. Now you can ask me if want why didn't I just build it out of wood and do it at professional level. And the answer was well, I don't have much room up here and the ceiling is like old, old plaster and it crumbles. In fact, I kind of tried to tacking it up there and I ended up having the glue it to the ceiling, because these nails won't even hold the top right out.
So, you can see, and I just didn't want to wait around, because I am a kind of person who is like, if I want to do something really and seemly badly, I don't go, oh, well I can't have it to the best level or degree, so I can't do it at all. But it works very well, and like I said if it weren't for that noising computer that would work even better, but actually with the little pre-equalizing and a good mike you don't even notice it as that a** stuff. It's pretty good. Anyway, that's a home made vocal booth. Made for 30 bucks. As crappy as it looks. It really does work pretty well. So you can try it, if you want, and I will catch with you later.
