This tutorial will show you how to add an SSL Certificate to your site in Plesk. If you have configured this task to display a link in your desktop, you can click it directly from here. Otherwise, click Home to go to the main dashboard.
An SSL Certificate is highly recommended if you intend on collecting sensitive information on your site such as credit card data. As you can see, there are currently no certificates on this site. Let's go ahead and add one now.
Give the certificate a name. This is for your reference only. The fields in this form will be pre-populated with your information as per your profile. Check it for accuracy. You must first generate a Certificate Request which you will submit to a Certified Authority (CA). Click on the new certificate you just created. Copy the CSR (Certificate Signing Request) and the Private Key. You will need to submit these in your application to a Certified Authority.
You also have the option of installing a self signed certificate. Your site visitors will be prompted to click to accept the certificate. This time, click to create a self-signed certificate. When purchasing a certificate from a CA, once you receive your certificate by email, you will need to upload it to your certificate repository in Plesk. Select the certificate you wish to complete. You may upload the entire file from your hard drive or copy and paste it as text.
Keep in mind that your account must be enabled to accept an SSL Certificate.
