How to create the Matrix effect in Photoshop

By: Pascal B. The Matrix is a 1999 science fiction film written and directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski. It was originally released in the USA on March 31, 1999, and is the first entry in The Matrix series of films, comics, video games and animation. The film depicts a future in which reality perceived by humans is actually the Matrix, a simulated reality created by sentient machines in order to pacify and subdue the human population while their bodies' heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source. Upon learning this, computer programmer "Neo" is drawn into a rebellion against the machines. The film contains numerous references to the cyberpunk and hacker subcultures; philosophical and religious ideas; and homages to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Hong Kong action movies, Spaghetti Westerns and Japanese animation.

Welcome to the tutorial of Photoshop.

Go to Image and Adjustments and then use Saturation. Select colorized box. Adjust Hue range in that region.

Now create a new layer. Fill this new layer with white color by going to it and fill and then selecting white.

Now, go to Filter and Texture and then Grain. Set both the values 100 set range vertical. Again, go to Filter and Artistry and then select Neon Glow. Set both the values to five and 20 respectively and set the color to green.

Lastly, go to Filter and Stylize, and then select Glowing Edges. Set the values to one and seven and one respectively.

We are almost there. Simply select the Layer Blending Mode to screen and watch the magic. You may play a little to the Opacity setting to get that perfect matrix effect.

And, we are done. Looks cool, is it not?
