How to do Hoop Catch

Let's start this section of hoop and ball skills with a catching and throwing exercise that adds a new dimension to the use of hoops. The teacher or one of the young athletes rolls their hoop and two of the other players must run to catch up with the hoop and toss a ball back and forth through the moving hoop as many times as possible.

To add interest, you can start a simple competition by pairing up some of the young athletes to see how many times each pair can accomplish that task and for a team relay race, divide a group into two teams and pair players on each team. Set a goal of ten catches per pair before the next pair on their team goes. Then, if there are three pairs on each team, the relay race ends when one team finishes a complete round of 30 catches.
