An official visit at Franklin & Marshall consists of a Friday to Saturday visit to the school. What is included in that visit is we require that they attend a class. Typically, we ask the student-athlete, what particular academic areas she is interested in. If she wants to be a Biology Major, we have her hosted by someone on the team who is a Biology Major, and we will have her attend the Biology class, meet with the Biology Professor, really get a sense for what it's like in the Biology Department.
We will also schedule an interview with the Admission Office. We will usually schedule a team dinner with recruits. They will spend the night with us in the dorm, so they know what's like to live here; eat on campus, so that they know what the food is like in the cafeteria and the dining hall is like, and what dining options are available on campus.
Then, we typically have them attend an athletic event on Saturday so they can see what the campus is like on a non-academic day. And then typically, we have a tailgate which were kind of known for and across. So they get to meet not only the other players but also the other players parents, and give recruited athletes, the opportunity for their parents to ask questions of other parents on the team.
We intend in our official visit to be very, very open about what life is like at Franklin & Marshall, what life is like as a student-athlete, and give them the opportunity to experience it, so that there is no question in their mind if they decide to enroll in Franklin & Marshall what the experience is going to be like.
