Perimeter Base Defense: Middle
Perimeter defense from the middle now. You can obviously choose to double block with the right front or left front. We choose the double block with the left front. So obviously come together. There, it will be here. Left back gets off of the left front's left shoulder. So she is going to be on that sideline. Mitchel, she is going to be responsible for the hard shot right here, but she is also responsible for picking up that junk right there the tip that might fall which is one of the reason why again when we get back into our defense or creeping forward at the last minute.
Chelsie, in middle back is always on the seam of the block, so right in the seam. Kirsten is going to be off of Zahara's right shoulder right here. So, she is for the hard shot and then right front can come off and kind of be here for any middle tips or tips at the left. Now let's say this is kind of a blocking scheme that you can use for right handed hitter. Sometimes we have a middle, Alex, she plays left; she is a left handed hitter. If I were probably blocking against her if I was on the opposing team against her, I would probably block with my left front or with my right front, so if you go that way.
She can come in this way and then you are just changing your defense just a little bit. Mitchell would be back in the same spot. She would just be responsible for left. Chelsie still has the seam and then Kristen would be off at the right front's right shoulder. Obviously if you are doing this with your team, normally I would have a chair or a box or something so that I would really emulate a hitter so when I pound the ball they are going to close together. Zahara would say, ready, ready up with Rebecca, so that they know that they are jumping together and then they are playing the ball up.
Okay, go back to base, we are here. Okay, coming forward, good pass and then they are getting over to cover. Ball. Here we go, ball, here we go. Okay, good pass, get up, good.
