High Deep Forehands

Judging high deep balls and moving into that back position to hit them at a comfortable height is one of the challenges all players must face. Here is an exercise that forces good movement and good positioning, take a look.

Here we see Kalindy without a racquet confined with the strap, to force her to move into position. Her goal is simply to catch the ball with two hands and to end up on balance. The idea is, that if she can move into position with her arms locked in to her body and catch the ball on balance positioning to hit a ball with a racquet will be much easier.

Now with the racquet she focuses on the same movement and tries to return the ball with the same arc that came from the opponent. A common mistake at this level is to try to hit a slow ball fast. Much easier is to maintain the same arc and speed.
