How to do a Hoop Toss

This next group of exercises uses the hoop to develop adaptive catching skills. The first variation is one on one with one hoop being tossed back and forth. The next one helps children react and use their hands quickly. Pair up the children and have the tosser call out his or her partner's name who then spins and catches the hoop. The next variation jumps to a more challenging level with the tosser throwing two hoops at the same time. First, with both children facing one another and then, with the tosser calling out the catcher's name, who spins and catches both hoops one in each hand. Obviously, a group competition can be set up for each of these exercises by setting a time limit of 60 seconds and seeing how many successful catches can be performed in that length of time.
