How to do a Reaction Returns Tennis Drill

The next group of exercises focused on the one shot in tennis which consistently requires split second reactions, the return of serve. Here we see our players warming up with a traditional return drill with the server standing on the service line. But to test the receiver's reactions and reflexes even more, here are some more creative alternatives. First, with the receiver hitting two handed returns with the handle of the racquet, a challenging exercise to say the least, then we have the receiver face away from the server. When they hear the server contact the ball, they quickly spin and hit the return. And finally, we have the receiver do a 360 degree spin. As soon as they see the server, toss the ball for the serve. In all of these examples, the receiver's neuro- muscular system is pushed to the limit, a great way to improve both, reactions and reflexes.
