Next, let us move to one of the most enjoyable shots in Tennis, it is a real confidence-builder if you can hit it well.

You have constructed the point perfectly and your opponent hits this high short bouncing ball to your forehand, it is just asking to be hit-away for a winner. Let us move to a drill to develop this critical shot.

The game Kalindy and I are now playing is simple. I set her up with the short high ball and we play out the point. I try to repeatedly set her up and she has to recover behind the rubber throw down lines. I have placed mid-way between the service line and the baseline, we play first to 11 points.

It is also important to integrate this drill into a more realistic situation. In this sequence I feed her two deep balls and then a short one before we play out the point. Of course, she does not want to play out the point at all. Her goal is to knock off that short ball for a winner. Great shot!
