The opposite of the last drill is also relevant to practice. Since taking small adjustment steps may also be necessary at the end of a sprint to decelerate and regain balance for a stroke. In this drill our player sprints to the ladder from 5-10 yards away using their normal stride length. When the player reaches the ladder he or she sprints through it, placing one foot in each box as quickly as possible. Like all the exercises in this section, this exercise can be competitive between players or competitive against oneself by using a stopwatch to time the drill.
