How to do an Attack & Volley Tennis Combo

Of course, there is another type of approach. I call it the Attack and Volley. It takes place on short balls, just like the normal approach shot, however, you drive the ball with topspin instead of chipping like we just demonstrated in the last segment.

For Colindy, I have guided her to chip when she has to contact the short balls below the height of the net, and to attack when the short balls are at net height and above.

This shot combination has rapidly become one of Colindy's favorite shots. Since she really likes to volley and we have practiced a lot of high mid-court shots from the very start, she is very comfortable with this combination. This is another example of how starting young players or beginners of any age, with the right fundamentals can allow their games to flourish. Great job, Colindy.
