Hi, everybody. My name is magician David Jay Cassel, president of learn magictricks.org. Today I am going to show you the performance and the explanation on how to do the Crazy Man’s Handcuffs. This is an illusion where you take two rubber bands, place one just like so, place the other one just like that. Now there would be no way for me to pull one rubber band through the other because that would be solid through solid. But sometime a magician I can enough one rubber through the other just like so.
Now I am going to do the explanation on how to do the Crazy Man’s Handcuffs. This is a magic trick that is been done by famous magician such as David Copperfield and Criss Angel and now you going to know how to do it.
All you need is two regular rubber bands they do not have to be different in colors but they can be. You can see they are not very big, okay and all you do is you take on your left hand, put one around your thumb and your first finger and with your other hand you put one around your first finger, drop it through here and then also bring your thumb through your—so you get in this position, okay.
So right now you really are lock behind the rubber band you cannot just pull this through you need to create illusion, okay and here is how you do that. You take your middle finger and touch the rubber band right there, okay. And what is happening is when you pull this rubber band back you put your middle finger on top of that rubber band and hold it, okay so that is the first move.
Once you are on this position, the middle finger hold that tight can you see that between the middle finger and the first thing you do not let go, okay. Now this first finger comes under the one by your thumb and inside, okay. At this point you quickly move towards the rubber band and then you pull them apart, okay.
So once again all the moves happen on this hand not this hand, okay so once again when you start this magic effect you pull it like this to show that if you pull it through this it would be a solid through solid and remember quickly you do this you do not let them see it your middle finger hold the rubber band and your first finger.
Once you are on this position you go to step 2 which is you take and release you first finger. Your first finger comes up and under the rubber band next to your thumb and then at this point you let go of the one between your first finger and your middle finger and at the same time you come towards the rubber bands, okay so you are doing a little switch there and then you can pull it through.
This is a great magic illusion and it will take some practice. So watch this video several times with some rubber bands and try in front of a mirror at least a dozen times before you start doing this for people. Once you feel comfortable with the move it will be very easy and you will not even have to think about it. They will look like this, you show that if you are going to pull this through here it would be impossible because it is a solid through solid but in magic nothing is really impossible.
