How to do the Perfect Jump Shot

Once you master the correct footwork the power of your jump shot will come through your legs. As you can see here it is essential that you start low. The key to becoming a great shooter and increasing your range is being able to release the ball as your feet are coming off the ground.

Now that you have seen the footwork let's put it all together as you can see here all the power is coming from my leg. As I am jumping I am releasing the basketball with a perfect follow through. The secret to becoming a great shooter is being able to shoot the ball the same way every time. The most common jump shot mistakes that I see include incorrect footwork, bad form and releasing the ball too late.

Now let's take a look at the jump shot in real time. You can break the jump shot down to three areas; footwork, form, and follow through. As I mentioned before the jump shot is all about shooting the same shot every time. Once you get the technique down the only thing stopping you from becoming a pure shooter is reputation and time. You have to put time in a gym, remember basketball is game of muscle memory.
