Once that stride foot lands, do not allow it to move. Mistakes that kids make is that foot twist, it rolls, or the heel lifts. The minute my heel lifts, I am out of there, my balance is gone. So sometimes you have to step on the foot when it lands, they really like that. That's very easy to keep your eye on.
The next thing is resistance. That stride leg is your stake that you are planting in that ground, and you want to push back, and you want to stop, all forward momentum. Very tough to get a young kid to start doing this and feeling it.
So let's just stop our leg and push back, that is the feeling of resistance, and that's key for that arm to whip against that resistance. Add an arm whip to your resistance, stomp snap, and do it again, stomp snap. If you will notice, we have a nice angle backwards from our stride leg. So we call that the body lean back.
