Get Exercised with Dina Prioste
Episode 34
I Haz Cow Face
Hi I am Dina Prioste and welcome to Get Exercised. You know I just do not get why some of the poses in yoga are named what they are. And the most confusing for me has always been Cow Face posed. Oh, what!

A Cow Face pose is an awesome hip and shoulder stretch but maybe you can help me figure out why it is named after a Cow Face. For the shoulder stretch part have a strap belt or neck tie handy. For the hip opening part of the pose, cross your right leg over left, stack the right knee on top of the left, feet are by your hips. Make sure your right seat is on the floor. I do realize that men are slight disadvantage. With this part of stretch if you know what I mean.

So, if this is not happening for you. Just do the stretch in a comfortable seated position. And for the rest of the stretch have your strap handy take your left arm up and that elbow right arm behind. So if you do not reach finger tips you can use your strap or your belts if you reach the finger tips. Grab the finger tips, this is the same shoulder stretch that we did in episode 26. From here take a deep inhale as you exhale start to lean and forward keep breathing. Come all the way forward until you feel that stretch in the right hip. If you are on the more flexible side, you can go ahead and hook your chin outside your knee.
Now let us do the other side so, both Cow Faces can be equally sexy. If you are doing it in a seated position just switch the feet so, the other foot is in front. And the other variation, you are going to stack your left knee on top of the right knee. Really cross that leg over make sure your left butt cheek is on the floor, and now we are going to take the right arm up and that elbow left arm behind.
I think that the knees are the nose of the cow and that lifted elbow is one ear and then that other elbow is like at flopped ear so, the cows thinking. It is like a corky cow. It is like a cow pondering.

In deep thought. Yes, I still do not know about the name Cow Face but it is a great hip and shoulder stretch. Join me next week when I show you how very flexible people can get the most out of their stretches. I will see you then. Thanks for watching and I am Dina Prioste and you have just been exercised.
