Hi my name is Joan Lee and I am going to tell you how to get a US work visa. In my situation, I actually came to the country on an F1 student visa and after that expired, what happens is that you get a year’s worth of what is called an optional practical training visa. This gives you a year’s time to find an employer to sponsor you in your work visa.
In my case, I started dancing for a dance Company called the Brian Brooks and moving company and they sponsored my 01 visa which is an outstanding artist visa. To get the 01 visa, you need to prove that you are an important asset to the industry that you work in. In my case, it was a dance industry.
This is to get letters of recommendation from industry professionals who could write glowing things about myself. If there is anything that you have written in the paper, reviews, previews just write-ups and magazines about yourself as an artist that is also ways of proving that you are worthy to get to the 01 visa.
Getting an immigration lawyers obviously is helpful to get this pretty hard to get visa but once you get one it is valid for three years and then you can extend it for another three more. And that is how I got my work visa.
