How to get the Kimura - Tip 1
Submissions 101: I am going to show you a little tip on how to get ude-garami or the kimura from the guard position. This is just how to pry your arm loose. So typically if you have a guard on someone and they are going to break, they have their hands on your hips and they are really digging in, one way to get an arm loose is, I'll grab on thumb to thumb, and I'll take this hand and I'll grab around his elbow lower part of his triceps, and I'll try to pull him here. If sometimes he is too strong, and so I'll be trying to do this, and I am not able to pull. So what I'll do is, I'll unhook my guard, and then kick my knee towards my nose, here as I do that it shoots him forward, I grab on, and then I can go for the kimura.
So one, two, kick. So this is really coming towards your face, over, grabbing, working kimura. So we'll do one more time, thumb to thumb, I shift, and kick, grabbing, going for the kimura lock. So this is the little tip on using your leg power against his arm to pry for loose, to get that 90 degree angle for the lock.
