If you are using a genuine copy of windows and if you do not have Windows Defender installer in your computer then you should get it now. Check if it is installed in your computer. They have two locations where you can find it. Look in the taskbar and the bottom right of the screen if you can see an icon like a wall of a castle then it is Windows Defender.
The second place is you can look inside the list of program files. Click on start, all programs and look into the installed programs. There you will be able to see if it is installed on your computer and if it is not you should download and install it from the Microsoft website.
The easiest way, to go to Windows Defender download pages upon Google and type Windows Defender in it and click on search. First page in this search maybe the one that will take you to Windows Defender download page at Microsoft. This is the Windows Defender website. If you can see that, you can download the software for Windows Vista or Windows XP boot. It says protect against Spyware popups and slow performance and get it now and then zoom the bottom.
To go to the download page click on get it now. This is the next page that appears. This is the place where you have to visit the Windows installation on your computer. You will find there the button called continue. If you press this button then it will ask you to download a small piece of software for the Windows validation. After you do that you have to install that software and run it and again, the phrase display that will validate to your Windows and after the validation you will be able to download the software.
After download you can install the software. After installation is about you can see the program window like this because actually quite simple to use. In front of the scan link there is a small downward facing arrow. If you click on it, you can see two options one is called Quick Scan and one is called Full Scan. We can do one of the two different types of scans. If you click on the tools link you will see there are tools and settings. You have Microsoft SpyNet, Quarantine items, Software Explorer, Allowed items, and Windows Defender website.
Let us take a brief look at what these settings are. I will click on Options. It says automatic scanning, automatically scan my computer, frequency, daily a particular day of the week. Approximate time you can set that your time when the computer will scan to using Windows Defender. This type of scan you want. You can have a full scan or quick scan. Then, you have options called check for updated definitions before scanning. This is a good option if your computer is connected to internet. Next is apply, default actions to items detected during a scan. You see those all right. High alert items, Medium alert items, Low alert items so let us leave it to default actions.
The next option is Real-Time Protection options. Make sure that this boxes check and Use Real-Time Protection and it is recommended options because this is what the real protection lies. It is integrated well into Windows and gives you a deeper level all of protection. Then, there is Administrator option if your computer has more than one user accounts then you can select if everyone can use Windows Defender or only the administrator icon will use Windows Defender. If you will make any changes in this setting then click on the save button.
One more important tool here is called Software Explorer. This is the place where you can see, which programs are allowed to run on your computer. One is called Startup Programs and there is Currently Running Programs, Network Connected Programs, and Winsock Service Providers. You can see which programs are allowed to run on startup and if you do not want any program to run on startup then select that program. You can read full description of the program and decide if that is something you need to or you want to keep or not or you can either remove or disable what are you want from the Window startup.
Then, you can go and see, which are the currently running programs on your computer. This is the place where you can actually find out which each process belongs to which program and it gives you details of the company and they have that file is installed if you are doubtful about any process you can check from the Software Explorer within Windows Defender. If that particular or says is it reliable or not and you can end that process from this window.
