How to make Brazilian white rice

Nando Cuca: Hi, this is a Nando Cuca from cuca brazuca and this is plain white rice, the Brazilian way. Add half a cup of easy cook rice to a sieve and give it a good wash to remove any loose powder. Then leave it aside for draining. While the rice is draining, add a tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add some chopped onion and garlic and let it soften and sweat away. And then, add in, the washed rice. Give it a good stir to cover every grain with a lovely onion and garlic taste. And add in a good pinch of salt.

Pour in enough hot water to cover the rice plus a little more. Give it one more stir and cover with a lid. After a minute or so, the water will have return to the boil, so lower the flame to a minimum and leave for 20 minutes until all the water has dried out. And there you are, nice and fluffy delicious plain white rice, the Brazilian way.
