Dave Killer: Hey! How are you all doing. This is cooking with Dave once again. I’m Dave. I’m the world greatest chef, I know that and because this is right here on my apron. Today, I’m being bad and making some sweet treats pretty much making candy if you ask me. I’m calling it a Chocolate Turtle Pie. It’s like one of the Chocolate Turtles you get, it has pecan in it, and a bit of caramel, and the chocolate outside out of it. Well I was eating that Pecan Pie with Caramel last week, I thought this tastes almost like a turt, if it just had some chocolate.
So I thought what I would do, as I would make a Pecan Pie instead of a Pecan’s on top of it. I’m going to melt some chocolate and put some chocolate right on top of my pie and turn into Dave’s Chocolate pie. Oh! It’s going to be good. And we just got all to put together.
Okay Pie filling consists of a cup sugar, a cup of light cornstarch. Oh! Yeah, pie takes a lot of sugar to make pie, you all know that. You got to have yourself some sugar to make pie. Alright, we are going to put this little bit just about a half tablespoon of vanilla extract so Baam! Half a tablespoon there about, I like to put that extra. Just put a little bit of salt about half a tablespoon of salt is enough, flavor it out, then we are going to put three whipped eggs I took the three eggs and I whipped them and we’ll put them right in there like so. I’m going to put a cup pecans in there, I’m going to go ahead and put about a cup and half pecans in there then I’m going to mix this up really well, this is going to be more popular or it’s going to be wonderful. Go and make chocolate turtle pie with pecans in it, caramel all it’s going to be good. And I’m going to make caramel, I’m going to put the caramel in here and mix it too.
Alright, we are going to take about a quarter stick of butter and just a little bit milk just enough to make things melt well melt our caramel in here. So, this little bit milk and a little bit of butter, let that melt and then we’ll put our caramel in this for melting it. Okay, watch your butter melts, so it’s getting hot; start adding your caramel pieces and they will start to melt or going to let these bad boys just heat up until they melt and they are going become smooth, once it becomes all one and smooth we’ll add it to our pie fillings. We’ll just keep stirring the pot and I’m going to put about half of this, I’m making two pies, I’m going to put about half of that in there and leaving this alone. I’m just going to stir it up in my pot filling; I’m just going to pour it right into my pacros it’s almost all won’t fit. And I’ll just put them in the oven 350 degrees and for about 20, 30 minutes until my pie crusts are sweet brown and I’ll take it out and let it cool and then we’ll add our chocolate topping to it and we’ll have us a Chocolate Turtle Pie.
Okay, I have some milk and some butter in my pan is heating up, I’m going to put some chocolate in there, you can use chocolate, you can use chocolate chips if you want to whatever you got. We are going to melt it and we are going to put this on top of our Turtle Pie and then I’m going to leave a little more milk in that. I added a little more milk to it because I want it to be little more soupy than what I added. I’m going to be able to pour right on top of my Pie and have it hardened and this would be wonderful as a little chocolate pie of course. So, I’m going to heat up, remember I’m not going to cook, I’m not going to boil; nothing like that because as you just start boiling this chocolate, it gets nasty I don’t want to cook it. I just want to make it hot. Hoping now I’ve got nice consistency, see, I can just dribble it. That’s very nice.
Okay. This is our Turtle Pie of that oven caramel and eggs and some cornstarch, some sugar and some pecans and now I’m going to take my chocolate and I’m just going to pour it right on top of that, you kind of make little thin layer of chocolate right on top of that, try to keep it in the cross if I can -- oh! That’s going to be good.
Now I let that get hard and let it cool off a little bit, we are going to put in a refrigerator, if I wanted to get cool fast. And as that chocolate cools off and then we’ll have our Turtle pie. Okay, there is our finished product and it’s a Chocolate Turtle Pie, it has caramel inside, you’ll see that inside it, it has pecans it has goodness with chocolate on the top. Oh! Man this thing -- it’s just like candy, I like I made a candy bar pie something that I wondering.
Umm and that’s going to be good, Chocolate Pie, Umm, Pecan and caramel. Oh! Man it’s sweet brown add some sugar in the pie. But man! It’s good. Alright, you are all going to be doing this; you got a wonderful day. Thanks for watching.
