Julie Hasson: I’m Julie Hasson. And I’m going to show you how to make a fantastic rice pudding with hemp milk; Yes, I too say hemp milk. Now I am a newbie to a lot of the hemp products that are out of the market, as I’m sure lot of you are. But recently I had the opportunity to try rich and creamy tasting hemp milk that was so good and inspired me to come my home and throw into rice pudding and that’s what I did.
So I’m going to show you how to make this lovely rice pudding. Now to begin with you are going to use Cal Rose Rice, which is short grain rice and you do not want to rinse it, because you want that starch on there that was going to thickening your pudding. And so you are going to add that to simmering water, you can bring it up to boil, let’s just mix this around for second. Here we go. So we are going to being it up to boil we are going to cover it, we’re going to reduce to heat and we’re going to simmer it for 15 minutes. Let’s reduce that and set timer for 15 minutes.
Okay, it’s been 15 minutes I just turned off the heat and now we are going to let it sit for five more minutes and then we can start making our pudding. It’s been five minutes I’m going to go ahead now take of the lid and now is the point where you going to, want to start adding this different ingredients. So to our rice we’re going to add our sugar. Now I like raisins so I’m going to add raisins in there but that’s only optional for you.
Okay and then we have our hemp milk and which we pour right in there and what you’re going to do, is this will take about, well probably about 10 minutes. We’re going to turn the heat back on to a low simmer what about there, and we’re going to start stirring. So lets mix all the ingredients in there. How this is great, and so at this point know what it is -- is this just slow cooking in the rice will finish observing the liquid and so it will get all nice and creamy and everything is really good. If you find at the very end that’s will take that can always add like another drop or so a the hemp milk and to it in just been added little bit to your liking and also if you can’t find hemp milk or good tasting hemp milk, you can use like the vanilla or plain soy milk or a almond milk or hazelnut milk those were also work as well they are really good. But try it with this hemp milk its delicious.
Okay, so we are just going to stir this and you don’t have to stir at the entire time to, you can just going to store every few minutes and like set about 10 minutes. What I’m going to do at this point is I’m going to add a little bit freshly grated nutmeg and I love the flavor of freshly grated nutmeg so if you can get these which you can usually get them like an pumpkin spice muffins and a little grater, you can grated it in otherwise just go ahead and use it all the shaker jar. Put that in, that’s a really nice flavor to it and I like to add the cinnamon at a very end this is nice because it kindly permeates in throughout the pudding in the cinnamons, nice and part of that.
Anyway we discuss for this for another few minutes and that will be done. It’s nice and thick now so I just turned off heat and I’m going to storing some vanilla extract, now I like that’s kind of eyeball little bit, but you could add about a teaspoon for and it just adds a really nice at the flour. Then I’m going to sprinkle into little bit of cinnamon and once you make this you will see why this is one of families favorite recipes, if I tell you that I make this three times a week it no joke. I mean my kinds eat it for breakfast, we eat for dessert its though even need a as an afternoon snacks, so its good anytime of the day. Right now you have a got a pudding like that, and then I like to sprinkle a little bit more cinnamon on top and then a little soy whip cream just sort grill the little bit, too good and now I’m going to take in.
Thank you so much for joining me, and I really suggest you get cooking and make these things so.
