Winter awesomeness
I really wanted to make it up to Obama girl. So, I decided to make a personalized name necklace that she could wear to the inauguration perusing the forums, I found the shrinky dink tutorial by Martini Mama and decided that was the way to go.
First, I want to acidfonts to find the perfect font, whoosit me. Once you have you're font picked out, open up photoshop or whatever photo editing program you may have and type out your words. Each letter is going to be a separate layer, so you can move them around individually. This is because you want each letter to connect. The size of each letter is 200 points, using the whoo font. After the lettering is how you wanted, it is time to print. For this you need printable Shrinky paper and an ink Jet printer. You want to print on the less shinny side that is a little sticky to the touch. And, if it comes out not great looking, do not worry, we will fix that later.
Next, use a pair of curve sharp scissors to cutout the words. Cut away all the white parts. It is a little tricky to get the inside spots, just be patient and go slow, otherwise you could reap it and then, you will be sad. After all the white parts were cutaway, use a whole puncher to punch two holes on either side of the word. This will be where you attach your chain, now it is time for shrinky magic.
Preheat your toaster oven or regular oven to just under 300 degrees on the bake setting. Cover a cookie sheet with some old brown paper bag, place your lettering on top and pop it on the oven.
First, it will curl. If it curls on top of itself too much, just pull out and flat it down a little. Then, it will start to flatten. Once it lays all the way flat, keep it in for 30 more seconds and it is done. Take it out and press a flat object on top of it for about 15 seconds while it cools.
Now, spray a later of black spray paint on top and let it dry. Then, use some clear spray to seal it up. I did like 10 coats, but allow 15 minutes of drying to happen, it between each coat. Once everything is all dry, it is time to add your hardware. You will need some metal chain, 4 jump rings, a clasp, wire cutters, and some needle nose pliers. Measure out about 16 ½ inches of chain, snip it away from the rest of the chain and snip it half, so you have 2 chain of equal length. Add one of your jump rings to one end of one of the chain. Add another jump ring to the end of the other chain to attach your clasp. Connect the clasp pin to the jump ring on the other chain. Now, take your other two jump rings, open them up and put one through each whole in the lettering and attach the two ends to the two sides. And, your necklace is good.

If you are upcycling diva, you can use number 6 plastic, usually found in take out containers.
Female3: Hey!
Make sure it is number 6 plastic though. Cut out the flat part and print out the image you want.
I am going to make some Obama earrings. Tape the plastic on top of your image and trace it out with a -permanent marker.

On the other side of the plastic, use some sandpaper to wrap it up a bit. Then, color it in with colored pencil. Cutout the image and punch a whole at the top. Do all that again for the second earring. Now, just bake it like you did with the necklace, spray some clear paint on both sides, wait for it to dry and add some earring hooks. Stylin!

All right! Now, a little something for the Obama guys out there.
All right, I found this amazing stencil design by craft mafia member Margaret Cabel. This image is circulated around the world and is quickly become an underground phenomenon. And today, we are going to use to spruce out the old closet.
Material you will need, the Obama stencil, which you could find on artbymags flicker page. And, exacto knife or sharp cutting tool, some spray adhesive, a piece of cardboard, some spray paint, and an old t-shirt. Oh yeah! And, some transparent paper, which I did not have, so I use an old book report cover.
First up, download the Obama’s stencil and print it out on 8 ½ x 11 sheet of transparency paper or Dr. Nipple cover. Now, get yourself an exacto blade and carefully cutout all the negative spaces of your image. That means all the little black parts.
Once finished, take out that old shirt, lay it down and figure out where you want your stencil to go. Then, bust out that piece of cardboard and slip it in between your shirt. Grab the spray adhesive and apply a light coat to the back of your stencil. Place it on to your shirt and gently press down. Make sure you line the edges of your stencil before you spray with newspaper to avoid over spray. After that, take your black spray paint and begin to apply a light coat on to your stencil. Wait a couple of minutes to dry, peel it off and bam! Your shirt has been Obamatized, simple as that.
Also, be sure to check out Compa’s YoutTube video, where they show you how to make a fabric stencil that you could sew on to your shirt.
