How to make Photo Lanterns
Photography is something that I’ve really come to enjoy. I love capturing those moments with my kids and my family and with technology it’s so great because I’m able to save those originals and then I can use my printers, use my video cameras and Tweet those pictures and turn them into great projects.
There are lots of great crafts that you can use using photographs. I prefer making most of my crafts with my kids. This pocket video camera is also a great tool to use to capture those family moments.
What I’ve done today is I’ve actually taken some pictures from Emma’s bouquet as a flower girl and what we’ve done is we printed them off in an 8½ x11 paper and we’re going to turn it into photo lanterns. It’s a great craft that can be use for birthday parties, family reunions and it’s a lot of fun. It’s a great bonding experience with your kids.
Using the Kodak ESP9 All-In-One-Printer, I printed off about dozen pictures of the bouquet on a 8½ x 11 paper and then I went on to the kodak.ca website and I downloaded the template for the lantern and the wonderful thing about this printer is that I’m able to save approximately $137.00 a year just in ink so I don’t have to worry about shutting off my printer when my kids are at home.
Place the template on top of the photo and fold it over where indicated. Then cut on the dotted lines, remove the template. Now make a cylinder with the lantern and tape it together. Using one of the extra strips you cut off, make a handle for the lantern. To give the lantern a nice shape, gently bend the top section of the lantern where each piece meets the top outward.
And there you have it, quick easy photo lanterns that are great for your next birthday party or family reunion, just add a battery operated tea light and you’re set to go.
