How to make a between the Sheets Cocktail
Welcome to Common Man Cocktails, I’m your host, Derrick Schommer. Today we’re going to cover the Between the Sheets, I love it, it’s the Between the Sheets, but it’s a recipe called Between the Sheets. Not sure with that really, what’s it’s supposed to mean. But the Between the Sheets is going to have some, we’re going to use some brandy. You can use brandy; you can use Cognac, which is from the French side. This is probably from the non-French side. I don’t know where they make this. Wherever Christian Brothers decides to bottle, or whatever they do with brandy. We got a little more triple sec, like we had in the last episode. Bacardi, we wanted the, it’s just some kind of light Bacardi, light rum. You can use any light rum you want, we just chose this ‘coz it hasn’t been getting a lot of love. We’ve been using all the other light rums we have.
You’re going to need your cocktail glass. You’re also going to use three quarters of an ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice. I just freshly squeezed it and stuffed it in here. Smells fresh, this is a little more sour of a drink. It’s not going to be like the Caramel Candy Apple Martini where you get that super sweet like delectable, delicious taste. This will be a little more balanced and better, certain people like sour drinks, certain people like sweet drinks. Some people like in between. This might be more of the in between style of drink, so let’s going to do our brandy. We’re going to do one ounce, one ounce and then, one ounce of all the alcohols and then we’re just going to dump in our three-quarter ounce of lemon juice. There you go. Not that most impressive brandy on the market. It’s just the V.S., they have a lot of top shelf. It doesn’t matter what you’re going to use, I don’t think, you’re going to get the same effect. The better quality you use, the better quality your drink’s going to be. That’s just a general rule. It, to a point, I wouldn’t go spending 300 dollars on some brandy to use on a mixed cocktail, but, hey if you have 300 dollars, you can get around and do what you want.
Well, an ounce down in there. As a final shot, sour it up a bit. Got our ice, got our shaker, and got everything we need, let’s shake it up.
Spell good, we’re going to strain that out into our frosty glass. So we’re not so frosty. If you have a frosty, use a frosty. Not necessarily the most delightful color. But it gets the point across.
Kind of a, kind of like, looks like a brown dirty water, little floaties, that would be your natural squeezed lemon in there. You could see the lemon squeeze. Doesn’t really have that much in scent, a little citrus, I guess that makes sense. You’ve got the triple sec, you’ve got the lemon. Let’s give it a try.
A little sour. Maybe the lemon, almost, if you’re into sweet drinks this probably not going to be your style. It’s not like a lemon drop sour. Its right in between, the brandy kind of smoothes it a little, you will taste a hint of alcohol on the way down. Overwhelmed with the lemon and the citrus so it’s, I’d look at this as a citrus style drink. Tasty, just different, don’t you know, if you’re looking for cocktails that are supper, super sweet, not going to do it, but that’s not to say it’s not a good well-balanced drink.. You don’t taste too much of the rum in there. So, let’s say hat’s a, definitely a good try for somebody who’s looking for something not so intense on either side of the spectrum. It’s not just going to suck your mouth like a, you’re biting in a lemon, which is not nice. It’s also not enough that you need really to coat it in sugar to throw off some of the bite, so definitely worth the try. This is the Between the Sheets. You could check this out.
