Welcome to common man cocktail. I’m your host, David Schommer. Today we’re going to teach you how to make an Irish candy.
The Irish candy, small glass, good after dinner drink. We’ll figure out what it’s going to taste like after we’re finished but we’re going to include a half shot of crème de cocoa, ounce and a half of baileys Irish cream and raspberry liqueur. Now the baileys Irish cream, it’s important to realize it does have an expiration date on the back, read the label, and make sure you drink it faster than it expires. It has cream in it, cream. So what we’re going to do is we’re going to start it out with 2 ounce or 1 and a half ounces of the baileys Irish cream. It’s important to use the standard run in the mill baileys Irish cream.
Don’t use any of the fancy new baileys that they’ve come out with like the caramel or French vanilla, any mocha, I don’t know with all the different variants they have. Stick with standard baileys and I’ll explain why. This stuff right here, kind of potent, raspberry flavoring, it’s really the key ingredient in this drink. If you use any of the caramel or other flavors, you’re going to pretty much just drown the way any flavor that you might get from the raspberry. Now if you don’t like raspberry that might be an option but just don’t put raspberry. We’re going to do another a little half ounce, this adds a little chocolaty flavor more so than what the Irish cream already has. These guys lined up here. Stir. You’re going to notice the Irish cream pretty much destroys any chances of changing the color although there is a small hint of red from the raspberry, not very much.
There you go. Small glass, you can double the quantity if you want but I’ll warn you, baileys Irish cream kind of high in calorie count so if you’re trying to watch your beautiful figure, keep it in a smaller glass. Let’s give it a try. Very smooth, kind of tastes like a, you know the mixed box of chocolates, when you pull them out and you pop them in your mouth and you don’t know what they’re going to taste like, it’s like a dark chocolate, a dark Swiss chocolate nuts, not as much sweet as a raspberry creamy center. Because you got the cream so it’s a, it’s sweet but not overly sweet. There is a small burn of the alcohol probably from the baileys coz I think alone that’s kind of got that burn, definitely will complement a lot of different meals, good after dinner drink, so there you go, ooh sweet. This is the Irish candy, tastes kind of like candy with the raspberry pop.
