Okay everyone. We are back here with stage 3 of throwing a small bowl. We have done the throwing of the bowl and the trimming of the bowl and now we are getting ready for stage 3 which is glazing up the bowl and firing it. And, I wanted to show you a couple things about the bowl today.
Inside the bowl, I have a blue retiled glaze which is just a bottled amaco glaze. I have not got to the point that making my glazes just yet. And I applied that, kind of water down with a paint sprayer, several coats probably literally 10 or so. And then after I added the blue retile, I put in brush in a light translucent mint glaze and then added some clay bits along the side there when the glaze was wet. And the clay bits are literally just bits of glazes and things that—cleaning out of brushes or scrapping up corner tops and things like that. I just keep all those little bucket and a little container rather and then you just kind of sprinkle them on, like a spice almost. And I am hoping that what will happen these pieces fired is that all these little glaze bits will be able a little versive color that will run down into the bowl from the inside, that sort of thing. So, I will be anxious to see what that looks like when I fire it.
On the outside, I did something kind of different. On the outside of the ball, a used a brown B3-brown clay that I had reduce down into slip, kind of rub in on the outside of the B-square. Kind of like almost to stain, I intentionally let it collect on the bottom. I do not know if you can see that well. But intentionally, kind of let that brown clay kind of collect and the grooves and things and the bottom of the piece and then wipe some of it away just kind of give it a little rusty look. And then obviously you can see here on the side, I just painted some Japanese or Chinese symbols just kind of free hand that do not mean anything that I know at least they are just decoration and intended to look somewhat agent, giving an Asian flare.
And that is it. I did not put any glaze or anything on the outside of the bowl. And so, what I am going to do is I am going to fire that, see what that looks like and probably what I will want to do after I fired at once is I will probably want to put a clear coat of glaze on the outside and refire it. But, I attend to be careful and would rather fire the piece multiple times rather than putting that clear code on with the chance that I might mess up the decoration that I did with the slip.
So the next step then obviously is to load this into the cone. Okay, we are in the cone room. The lighting is pouring here, so I apologize of the video does not come out really nicely. This is a piece that I already have in the cone. Here is our bowl and I am going to take that, put that down into the calm. It is very dark. I am sure you cannot see that well on the video. And we will finish louring this cone and you want, we will see what happens to the bowl. I will video tape the cone opening and you will see it when I see it and we will see what happens.
