How to make a Scroll Invitation Card

The picture of the project was with no measurements, not a Zippo, nothing else and she said in a little note, “Can you figure this out.” So I guess that was a challenge. So I took it and this is what I came up with. I have no clue if that is exactly how it was made or whatever but this is my version. So this is how it works. It is a scrolling card as I guess what I am going to call it because you can pull it out and I have yet to mail one out because I do not know if you flatten this out and it creases that scrolling part. I do not know if it will actually be going to roll out as good at it does, but any of you stampers actually mail, I would be really curious on how that works out for, so just let me know. So I am going to show you how I made this today. So let us get started. I am using black cardstock and Whisper white. The black is cut at 4 ¼” x 10 ½” and you are going to score it 3”, 7 ½” and 10”. And then Whisper white is cut at 3” x 8 ½”. All right, so then you are going to go ahead and fold all your score lines. Let me get my blank folder. So then you are going to take your black cardstock and you are going to butt this end up with that 1/2” overhang. Now, you could actually have this, let me show you on this one. I am having it set up like this but you could actually have it set up like that, and it rocks. Is it not cute? Okay. So what you are going to do is you are going to line that edge up with that ½” like that, just kind of butt that up to that. And you are going to take your 1/16th handheld punch and you are going to punch two holes, one on each end. [Demo] Make sure they all line up with your punch line here. I cannot see it plug. Okay, I guess right there, I am going to hold it up to the light. All right, so this puncher hole right there. Okay. So then you are to go open your black cardstock. Okay, so then you are going to open your black cardstock up and then I am going to adhere my Whisper white inside with my snail. I am just going to apply one strip adhesive on one end and I am going to adhere this not to the ½” score line there, I am going to adhere to this end and you want to do it right between those punch outs. So adhere that down and then you are going to go to the punch lines here and this is going to fold up right between here. I am going to show you here. So you are going to put a brad where punch is. [Demo] Close that out on the inside and then do the other side. [Demo] And that is pretty much your scrolling part of your project. So then it jus sits inside there. Can you see that? And then when I pull it, it is going to come out but it is coming under. I do not know if you can see that. I hope that is picking it up, but it is going to go up underneath that ½” line in between the two brads so that when you push that back in there, it is going to get tucked up inside. Okay. I hope you guys is seeing that. All right, so then from my pull, I am using the round tab punch and I am going to punch Real red using my black ink and I am going to use that Ohoy medistamps set. I am using the little tiny bird. I am going to fold this in half. That is cute. I am going to stamp my little bird on there. Now, I am going to go to the inside of my scroll, I am going to pull that out as far as it go without bending it and I am going to stamp “You are invited”. Stamp that in black and I am going to stamp a little anchor at the top and the bottom. Actually for limitation, you could do date, time, place all that. Okay. So I am going to take my Creamy Caramel and my dabber and I am going to kind of distress this so it looks like a treasure map type of thing. I am just going to go over the edges with my dabber. The edger first is easier because I am going to go over the inside of it. This little white here, that is going to be all done with my dabber too. I like the edges a little bit darker. So then I am going to take my dabber and I am just going lightly go over my Whisper white kind of like to age it, distressing it, whatever you want to call it. [Demo] All right enough of that. Okay, so you just take your dabber and you are going to age that a little bit. Then I am going to take my round tab and puncher. I am going to put adhesive on that and I am going to take these ends right here, these little curvatures. I am going to line this up with the edge of my Whisper white as a guide and then seal it down. [Demo] And then that is going to slide in there, so they know where to pull at. Cute! All right, then I am going to add my little pirate here. Now, with the little whiskers all I did was just take the black marker after I colored in a skintone with the blush blossom and I just took the little fine top of the black marker and I just dotted it so it kin of gave them like a barely looking face. All right, so the Whisper white for him is cut at 2 ½” x 2 ¼” and then the Real red cardstock is cut at 2 ¾” x 3 ½”. And then I am going to use, I believe this is the 3” side, so what I am going to do is I am just going to line him up here. And since I already put the brads—now these are serving as a purpose, this holder shot, but I am going to go ahead and punch two more holes here just to kind of balance it out. So I am just going to make a little hole here and then I am going to add two more brads. [Demo] Okay, so there. And then I am going to add some dimensionals to this, to my little pirate guy and for those dimensionals one on each corner here. [Demo] It is not coming off. All right. So I am going to go ahead and add my little pirate in between all those brads I have in my project here. Like that. [Demo] Okay. So let us see it. Is it not cute? I love it!. All right. Thanks girls.
