Getting started. Let us create a new project.
Give it a name, click on save. Now, your camera will initialize at this point, so your screen may freeze for a second when the camera device track started.
Once they have done that, choose your camera. Click okay. At this point you can choose your output size. You recommend 640x480 if your camera can handle that resolution. Okay, so this is what we have got in my camera. This character, we want to animate it. Let us make some adjustments to our camera settings first. With this camera, I can change the focus or the zoom, or the brightness and so on. Some cameras, you change the focus using the lens cap.
So we are just playing with the white balance and so forth. Once you are happy with the screen you have, you can go ahead and start capturing and we just—we go to capture mode and you click on snap. This captures the image on screen. You can make some changes and take another snap. Every time you make a change and you take a snap, the image will be brought down to the scroll bar frames at the bottom. So you continue doing this as you animate your character, building up in motion as we go. To review it, you click on playback and press the play button. It shows your progress. So let us capture some more and play it back.
You can also review what you have done by pulling the scrollbar from left to right, as shown here. This shows the character and the movements that you have made. So let us capture some more.
If you wish, you can use this feature called onion skinning. What onion skinning does basically is when you take a photograph or snap and you move it in the next frame, it shows you the difference between the previous and the next movement.
So when we move the guy in this case, you can see the previous position and the new position. This is a useful feature to fine-tune certain animation movements. So I have decided that this movement is too much so I bring it back a little and I take my snap.
Here again, okay. So I have set that with my onion skinning on select as. Press playback and it shows me the movement I have made. Again, I can review these movements at the scrollbar at the bottom of the screen.
