Speaker: Welcome back. Thanks for joining us. The drink that I would like to show you now is called an Appletini. So it's kind of like a variation of a martini. Today there is all types of tini-type drinks. There is a rasputini, lemontini, just depending what liquor or liquor you use with the combination to make the drink. So we are going to make a Appletini or Apple Martini called both ways and what I am going to do this time is I am going to show you how to make one by shaking it and what we mean by shaking it, we are going to pre-chill the ingredients before we pour them in our stem cocktail glass.
So this is a stem cocktail glass. It's a big one, over sized. We are going to fill it up with ice and we are filling up with ice because we want to pre-chill our glass and then we are going to make our drink.
So we are going to take our mixing cup with ice and our recipe calls for two ounces of Vodka, there we go. Two ounces of Vodka. Once again, I am using Smirnoff Vodka here, good Vodka and then to give it the apple taste, I am going to use apple pucker and this is made by DeKuyper. There are different brands. Sometimes it's called a apple schnapps, apple pucker, apple schnapps are really the same thing. It's a sweetened liquor. It's actually a liquor which means that sugar is added to it and the schnapps and pucker mean the same thing and in this particular type of apple pucker it has a sour apple flavor to it.
So what you are doing is you are getting a sour apple vodka drink. Easiest way to strain it and what we want to do is we want to use about three quarters of an ounce of our apple pucker. Then what we are going to do is we are going to shake our drink and here I have a shaking set. One is a tin cup. The other one is the glass one. You could buy those at most liquor supply places or on the Internet; they are easy to find and of course the glass one is smaller than the metal one and then what I am going to is I am going to shake it up very vigorously, just like this and what I am doing is I am chilling the drink. There we go.
Be sure if you are doing this to shake your drink thoroughly, I am going to dump the ice now out of our glass. This drink is served up, so it doesn't have any ice in it and here we go. We are going to strain it right in there and there we have it Appletini. Now, I am going to kind of get fancy and I am going to hang a piece of green apple on it. There we go right there, our green apple and there we have it our Appletini. So, if you like kind of a sour apple taste with vodka, kind of a potent drink, here is to you. Appletini.
