Falan Taylor: Hi, I am Falan Taylor and welcome to Housewife Cuisine. Today we are making fried chicken. Fried chicken can be made in many different ways. In my home it's never made the same way twice. How do you make fried chicken? E-mail me your recipe today.
I have here chicken wing portions which I have already rinsed and dried with paper towels. These are small and convenient and allow for quick cooking time and are perfect for watching football.
When frying chicken it's always wise to preheat your oil. I have here three cups of vegetable oil. Although expensive, I like to use peanut oil at times. Let's season our chicken. I have here some black pepper, garlic powder and a little bit of salt. Not too fancy, just simple seasoning. Let's season now.
Be sure to try and season both sides. I also use batter so I could have extra crunchy chicken. Let's make the batter now. I have here one cup of flour. To my flour, I also like to add a half teaspoon of baking powder so that my crust will be extra fluffy.
Stir the two together. Add a little bit of the seasoning we used before, black pepper, salt and garlic powder. Now for the liquid, I also add one cup of milk. Stir with a whisk to incorporate the flour and the milk. I also use an egg, I am going to break and egg into a separate bowl so that to make sure there is no shell inside the batter.
I am going to add it to my batter and whisk the two together. The batter is going to be thick and bubbly because of the baking powder, it adds extra volume to your chicken. In a separate bag I have some flour so after the chicken comes out of the batter I am going to put it inside of this and shake it.
So what we are going to do, I am going to add the batter to the chicken. Coat the chicken fully with the batter so that it can have a wonderful crust when you add it to your flour bag.
I have just checked my oil to make sure that it's hot enough for the chicken. We are going to add the chicken so we can begin frying. Add only a few pieces of chicken at a time, careful not to overcrowd the bag so that you'll have clumps inside of your batter.
Make sure you seal the bag to prevent any spilling and shake vigorously until everything is combined and well-coated. Look how well-coated the chicken is. Now let's begin frying. Let the chicken cook for about four to five minutes on either side or until perfectly golden brown on both sides.
The chicken looks ready to be turned over, nicely golden brown on one side. They are ready to come out now. I am just going to take them out and let them drain on paper towel. I have them already drained here. The chicken has a wonderful crunchy crust because of the batter that we made earlier.
Thanks for watching Housewife Cuisine. Until next time, happy cooking.
