Welcome to WatchMojo.com. I’m your host, Tiffany Karakas. Today, we will practice yoga more precisely “Ashtanga Yoga” which means in Sanskrit “power.”
So I want you to keep in mind that when practicing yoga, it is imperative that you think about uniting; uniting your body, your mind and your breath.
For starters, we’re going to start in the mountain pose in per position. So when you’re doing so, remember its important to clasp your hands in front of your chest and push your hands together so to feel the strength of your arms. Also keep your abs tight and shoulders down. Inhale.
As you inhale, bring your hands down, release reach all the way up. Touch your fingers and slowly go backwards, from here, you‘re going to release your hands as you exhale and go down.
Inhale. Go halfway up, strong back. And as you exhale, bring your hands back down. So you’re going to bring one foot backward followed by the other foot. Keep your abs tight. Inhale. And as you exhale, bring your chest down between your hands and look up shoulders down.
From this position, we’re going to go into a downward facing dog. So we’re going to push our hand and bring your hips up pointing to the sky. Inhale deeply. And as you exhale, look up and bring your left foot between hands followed by your right foot.
Inhale. Open your chest, arms to your side vertebrae by vertebrae. Come all the way back up and reach a high for the sky. Push backwards again. And as you exhale, release your hands and go back into your mountain post and per position.
So what you just did was called the sun salutation. A sun salutation is a warm up that you could perform before you start your yoga practice. You could go up to six times before you start.
But remember, you have to breathe.
