Kathleen Lisson: Hi, I am Kathleen and thank you for watching my video on how to host your own wine and cheese tasting party. Earlier this week I had about ten friends over to my house and we had a wine and cheese tasting party. We tried several cheeses and we paired them with several red and white wines. I used the internet, the staff of the Honest Weight Food Co-op. here in Albany and Steve Tanken's Cheese Primer to suggest wine and cheese pairings.
Each guest brought one wine and a cheese to pair it with. In advance before party started, I set out two cutting boards, and knife, and also a stack of plates. So as the cheeses arrived, they were cut and then put on the table.
Each cheese on the table had a sign next to it that said which wine to pair it with. I also offered three different types of New York State apples. The gusts could report their favorites wine and cheese pairings on the tasting sheets that I printed out previously and provided to them at the event.
I also had a master sheet for myself of the order of wines to serve. I went from white to red and within each white and red wine category from lightest wine to more full-bodied wine. If you have a question about which wine to serve before or after another wine, just go to your local wine shop, show them the list and they'll be happy to help you order the list in the proper ordered of serving.
This is a really popular party for me. Everyone really likes it and they all enjoyed, and we had some tea and we talked about our different pairings and then we talked about our different lives. It was a great way to share an evening of fun and learn something new and get all of your friends together.
So I hope this video has inspired you to plan your own wine and cheese party. Thanks and have a great day.
