How to play Barre Chords

Hi! I am Robert Renman from DolphinStreet.com. And this time I want to show you how you can play Barre Chords. Barre Chords are very useful to know because they let you played chords by only knowing one shape for your fingers.
But that I mean, one shape for the chord which you then can move anywhere you want to create the new chord and there are no open strings in using Barre Chords.
So, once means once you know the Barre Chord you can play that all nightly in 12 different keys by just moving this chord to way you want it to be and this very handy. I am going to show you how to play major and minor Barre Chords.
Okay. So, let us take a look at what are these Barre Chords look like. So, here, we are going to play an A-major Barre Chord and it sounds like this.
[Demo]
Before we actually play that chord let us play an E major chord.
[Demo]
I show you know this chord but if you look at playing this chord with the different finger in the list. Doing it this way and having the index finger free like this that allows you to move this whole shape up. Keep the fingers on the E string.
Now, we have—we are here on the 7th fret with the ring finger and the pinky and my little finger is on the 6th fret.
Now I take this index finger and just basically barred it over the strings I guess put it on top of all the sixth strings and I push down.
[Demo]
This is easier to do on an electric guitar compared to an acoustic because you do not have to press down as hard on an electric but it does work also on acoustic.
So, you see you might my index finger is fairly close to the actual fret here and that is because it is most comfortable for my fingers for my whole hand to keep the shape
I would not spare amount like that it will make it harder. So they very close together but I need to have this finger behind the fret in order to get the strings ringing.
[Demo]
Okay so let us look at again we have an E here I take this shape move it up and put this finger on top and I kind of a root rotate my index finger a little bit this way.
[Demo]
It is very hard to play a Barre Chords if you keep this on my pair you need to move it down in order to get the right grip so you can push down with your index finger and the rest of the fingers.
I tend to keep my thumb and at about this position right here. Okay so not up there but down at about this position.
A-major, now in order to make this A-minor all I need to do is to lift the middle finger up and this makes it a little hard because you know we have to make sure that G string has been barred by your index finger on this fret.
So, you need to apply a better quite of a pressure only so it does sound that note on the G string. The note C is the one we are looking for here that is what I want to create in minor the E minor chord sound and if you want that major chord and on the middle finger again one fret above release it and you have A-minor.
Now, the next shape you can play into different ways some people like to play it like this. I am using these three fingers on the 7th fret in order to play a D-major chord.
[Demo]
And I am starting my barring on the 5th fret but on the E string and then barred down.
[Demo]
As look tricky to get that last note, note sounding correctly because these three fingers on kind a crowd in here but it is possibly, if you practice.
[Demo]
Now, in order to make this D-minor, we move this note down a half step then the shapes changes so it becomes like this.
[Demo]
Now, we have D-minor, D-major, D-minor. The D-minor chord is actually easier to play and if you look at the fingers it is almost the same shape, you can call it the same shape as the A-major chord.
Then, we switch strings now but it is no longer A-major chord. It is a minor chord.
[Demo]
Now, I actually personally prefer to play, the D-major like this.
[Demo]
I am using my ring finger to bar three notes at a time, and now I had all these D-notes here on each finger, the fifth fret.
[Demo]
The drawback with this is I can not get that last note very e
