Hi there, I'm Ian Walsh with OnlineLessonVideos.com. Today’s lesson is a tune called Cluck Old Hen. We’re going to do it in the key of A minor and I'm going to show you how to play it in two different octaves. The first one be an open higher octave on the A and the E string and then we’ll move down into the G into the D string. So here's the sample of it Cluck Old Hen.
[Demonstration]
So let me start this tune up by showing you just some of the notes in the first part. They're pretty easy and once we have them, just the basic notes down, we’ll start adding in some of the crucial elements I think to this tune in particular to the double stop, the A and the E.
[Demonstration]
So we start off in the high A in the E string here.
[Demonstration]
And the first notes are E, A, G.
[Demonstration]
Okay. Once you have that, you're next – try the notes is E, A, D.
[Demonstration]
Then you play your first one again.
[Demonstration]
And then we walk down from the E.
[Demonstration]
So those notes are E, D, C natural and A. Now, when you put them all together, you get a sequence sound like a little like this.
[Demonstration]
Repeat.
[Demonstration]
Yeah, a couple of things. That last C natural that you play at the end there, I like to slide into a sharp position while also blending with the E string. So it sounds like this.
[Demonstration]
Okay. That blending of the A and the E string is crucial for this tune, so we’re going to start playing instead of just the bow on the E string and then on the A string for the D note, we’re going to play—we’re going to let the bow play both the A and the E string.
[Demonstration]
So now, try to play that sequence of notes.
[Demonstration]
Okay. Let's take a look at the second part of this tune.
