Hey what’s up everybody, it’s Aaron from freeandeasyguitar.com. The song I’m going to teach you right now is about Erick Church and it’s called Those I loved Along the way. I thought most by him and someone I just look at those I’ve loved which the song here I think is an awesome and I never heard before I got low some of my favorite songs now.
So the one I’ll teach to you is the capo should be on the 3rd fret. So if your guitar is in standard tuning put your capo on the 3rd fret. My guitar is in half step down tuning. So I’m putting my guitar on the 4th fret. A half step down tuning means each string is tune down a half step lower than standard. So by putting the capo for higher than I would in standard tuning is kind of cancel out the tuning.
My guitar is in standard tuning, it’ll be here since it’s tuned like a half step down a capo can go on a 4th fret. So if your guitar is in the standard tuning, capo is on the 3rd fret and you’ll put the same chords real tuned to it.
So the chords you will need is the G, I like to play a 4 finger G, you can also play a 3 finger G or like this.
[Demonstration]
I have the 4 finger of G that’s the 1st chord, okay? So with your low E, middle finger is 3rd fret, your 2nd finger on A, if your pointer finger 2nd is a little bit open and then your high E and your B, B and A it went in 2 string with is your ring and pinky finger 3rd frets.
Second course is in Em7, so from this G to the E, Em7 just leave these 2 fingers here on the 3rd frets and the 2 on the strings, make your pointer finger for the Em7 with the 2nd fret of you’re a and your middle finger is on the 2nd fret of your D string that’s your Em7 just strum all 6. And your 3rd chord for the intro there is C and none so just like your G but these two fingers, your middle and index are best moved down one string. So the middle from 6 string to 5 string and pointer from 5 string to the 4 string so the C9 you have the string as tap play, you put on 5 3rd fret at the middle, 2nd fret your pointer that’s open and the bottom too, 3rd frets your ring and pinky.
So for the intro, you can just play G, Em7 to the C9 for two measure of C9 strumming you just—
[Demonstration]
Switch to Em7.
[Demonstration]
To C9.
[Demonstration]
And again—
[Demonstration]
So speed up some of these—
[Demonstration]
And you go to that twice so you can get G, Em7, C9 for two measures. Okay let me put the 1st verse I’m going to try to sing it, and then I’ll go and teach it so
[Demonstration]
Okay, now I’m worried at my voice. I don’t think I have a very god voice to begin with so it was a little off pitch but I just want you guys get to feel for a how the song falls together. So excuse my voice but I want you to take the 1st line and the chord progression in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd line is the same. It sounds something like this,
[Demonstration]
Okay so where’s you’re going is you’re playing the C9.
[Demonstration]
Switch to the D.
[Demonstration]
To a G.
[Demonstration]
So you do that for the 1st one, I remember waitin’ by the curb when Mr. Murphy the 2nd line the daddy picked me up from school his eyes were red and the 4th line where my family gathered around my grandpa’s bed, so in the C9 you can start out
[Demonstration]
Switch to your D.
[Demonstration]
Switch to your G.
[Demonstration]
Okay, the 3rd line we drove to the hospital on a hurry is a C9 to a D to Em7 to Em7 just do the same strum pattern, okay?
[Demonstration]
Once you switch to your D.
[Demonstration]
Switch to your Em7.
[Demonstration]
Okay, so that’s that free course he was my best friend, he taught hot to fish and I cry and listen to my daddy for what are the love along the way. So he was my best friend is just in C9.
[Demonstration]
He taught me how, switch to G how to fish
[Demonstration]
And I cried listen to my daddy for it
[Demonstration]
So you’re playing the G, D and C9 like this
[Demonstration]
Switch to your D
[Demonstration]
Switch to your C9
[Demonstration]
And then you stay in that C9 for one of those I loved to the D and you finished to the G. So play that, what comes in focus on watch my fingers and listening to the lyrics.
[Demonstration]
Okay, 2nd verse is the same as the 1st
[Demonstration]
She was my best friend sing before, this little bit and then I guess you’d say this is I want to call the bridge, maybe it’s just the course on those kind of rhythm, different but it’s really high so I’m going to try and sing it maybe not to learn may jump around but you start listening to the course.
