This tutorial will show you how to provide hotlink protection for your files in cPanel.
Hotlink protection allows you to prevent others from linking directly to images or files on your site from their site. Aside from illegally using your images, they would also be using up your bandwidth!
As you can see, Hotlink Protection is currently disabled. Let's go ahead and enable it now.
Ensure that all variations of you site URL are listed here. These are URLs that will be allowed to link directly to your files.
If there are any additional file types you would like to protect from hotlinking, enter the file extensions.
Enter the URL to which you would like to redirect anyone who tries to hotlink to you.
You also have the option to allow Direct Requests. This would allow someone to manually enter the URL of a protected file into their address bar. This is quite different from someone hotlinking to your files from within their web site.
You have successfully protected the specified file types on your site from being hotlinked from unspecified sites.
It is as just easy to disable Hotlink protection.
You are now able to easily protect your files from being used by unauthorized sites with Hotlink Protection.
