I am going to show, how to set up a screen pack, which is basically a how to add more select slots because I figured, I didn't get enough messages about this and I might as well tell you how to do it. So what I did was I went and downloaded a MUGEN Fighting Jam, which is screen pack that I have the site to download from now. I am going to download it and you are going to use WinRAR or WinZip or whatever you want to use to unzip it. So it going to be, it downloaded right here on to my desktop.
So what I am going to do is click to Extract Here, Right Click to Extract Here. If you want to you can also double click it and whatever, you double click it and go through the whole bit, it's a lot easier just to Right Click. Alright, so here I have a fresh version of MUGEN. So In order to get the screen pack in here, you need to put stuff into the Data Folder and into the actual regular folder. With MUGEN Fighting Jam is basically the same exact thing as most other ones. So we have the Font folder, all these .def files and we confuse into some of that doesn't look good.
It's actually very simple. All you do, take the Font folder and just Replace that with the folder that's actually in your MUGEN. So all I do is drag the Font from MUGEN Fighting Jam folder to actual the MUGEN folder and just Replace that with the Font one that's in there already. Now next you are going to go into your Data folder, I am going to take all the remaining files all the .def files, the SND folder and the SFF folder and you're just going to drag them, all right in, click Yes to all the replacements and it's very simple. Now open your MUGEN and you have a working screen pack with, I believe, it's 500 something slots. So that's pretty simple.
Now what you are going to have to do with this screen pack is, in my opinion, the Player Select starts in a weird place. So first what we are going to do is we are going to go to our Select Def and I am going to teach you how to put in characters and stuff. Right now Kung Fu Man is the only one in there. So what you are going to want to look at first and then select that .def file is, see all the blanks. You don't want to replace those when you putting any characters. What you want replace is you delete the Random Select that I highlighted or whatever next one you want to use and you put in the characters in there. So let's say I want to put in Kung Fu Man and I want to put him in the very first slot. So I am going to write KFM which is his .def file and folder name, Save it and then I am going go with.
Now I go in he is in this first slot all the way up here. My Player Select slot is all way down here for the first player. And if you look couple in the top right, that's where our Player Two would be, if we had a Player Two right now. So you want to get your Player Select all the way up here into the first slot. So I'll show how to do that now, going to your Data folder and then go into your system.def folder. Now what you are going to do is you are going to scroll down a little bit or you can go to Edit Find and all you need search for is Select Info, and it will take right to here. So it says Select Info.
Go down a few bars, look for where it's says P1.cursor.startcellechos. Now right now it's set to 30,0. So we don't want it to 30 because that means how many columns we have so, that means it's down 30 columns. So we don't want it to go down columns. We want to go start even. So I believe it's 0,17 is the first cell for MUGEN Fighting Jam. Let's go back in. there you go. Now the Select is right up top where the other one is, where we put our Kung Fu Man. So you can change the Player Two cursor start position also, it's the same thing, it's just a little bit below where the other thing is in the text file.
So hopefully you can figure this out, if you have a different screen pack. It's basically the same thing. It's just taking a bunch of stuff and putting it in a Data folder, and basically it's replacing anything that MUGEN comes with. Most of the colors constructions, that you should be able to do it anyway. So once again here is the site where to get MUGEN Fighting Jam. And good luck with your screen pack.
