This little thing right here is called an orb; then great thing about the about the orb is that it saves you a lot of time and energy when you’re adjusting the tension of your lift cords for your roman shade.
Ideally, you want your lift cords to be even and topped across your shade. Normally what you would do is you would tie a knot at the bottom ring of your roman shade and then once it’s hang, if this lift cord’s to lose or too tight, you’re going to need to now untie your lift cord and re-knot it and try again when you raise or lower your shade.
This is very frustrating especially if you have a shade that has multiple lift cords, it’s time consuming and it’s not very accurate; with the orb, things are a lot easier. Let me untie this knot here and I’m going to show you how easy it is now to adjust the tension of your lift cord using our orbs.
Okay, I’ve untied the knot that was around the bottom ring of this roman shade and quite frankly it took me a while. I certainly don’t want to do that every time I need to adjust the tension of my lift cords. So the easy way to do this, is to thread your lift cord back through the bottom ring of your roman shade and to slide the end of your lift cord through the orb. The orb essentially is a spring, you take it and you squeeze it to reveal an opening which is which your lift cord will go through.
My hand’s going to block this for a second here but you’re going to squeeze it, slide the lift cord thru the whole and that’s it, just like that and it won’t go through the ring. And now if my lift cord is too lose, I simply squeeze it or slide it up to adjust it to make this lift cord tighter or if it’s too tight, I could squeeze it and adjust. This makes things so much easier, faster, more accurate and it’s going to make your installation of your roman shades very fast especially if you’re using the clutch system, the evenness of the tension of your lift cords is critical for success and if you have to sit there and tie and untie knots of your lift cord, it becomes very frustrating and this doesn’t make a very easy if your leaving your shade with a customer and they have to deal with knots. If they discovered that one of those shade lift cords is too lose.
So again let me show you how this works; if your lift chord is too lose, use a squeeze and move it up and if it’s too tight, you could just squeeze and rid out some of the tension and that’s it.
