How to take songs off your ipod
Hi there, how are you doing? I am David Ward and I am here to give you a short tutorial on how to take songs off on an iPod without having to delete them from the iTunes library. Of course, there are two different ones, they have two different folders on the iTunes screen. The first thing you want to do, let us say that you have plugged in your iPod and it has automatically loaded your entire library but you don’t want your entire library. Okay, well first off, you have to make sure that it will never do it again. Otherwise, it makes no difference in doing all these stuff unless, it is just going to do it again later. First thing that you do is go into your edit and preferences menu which is on the top of your screen as you can see up here and click the iPod tab in the settings window. Okay, click your music tab and click manually manage songs and play lists. What this does, is it lets you the user alone be the only thing to decide what songs get turned over to the iPod or not. Click okay to apply and now you are ready to fix your problem. See, you have one half of it done then go ahead and start doing the other. Click on your iPod folder. Now, for those of you who are worried about deleting, thinking that also deleted from the iTunes, it does not. The iTunes library and the iPod library are two separate file systems all together. Okay, so just go through. Try to do a drag select. Click the first song in your library and then holding down the shift button, click your last. That will select every song that is on your iPod at that time. Okay, and then you are going to hit the delete button and a pop up box is going to come up. It would not come up on mine but a pop up box will come up asking you are you sure that you wish to delete these files. Just say yes. Now the amount of time that it will take to delete, mine took a little bit of time because I hadn’t used very much space on mine at all. But let us say, you actually are, as you can tell I am using a 60 gigabyte iPod. Let us say you are using a 60 gigabyte up on, you have 50 gigabytes of music to delete, it could actually take quite a bit, so you may want to delete little by little at that point. Maybe 20 songs each at that point. Okay, and as you noticed, my iPod is now completely empty. There is no music on my iPod but my iTunes library remains intact. Alright, so that is basically how you take care of iTunes and make sure that your iPod. One, you can customize it yourself and two, you can get rid of anything that is in your iPod that you do not want yourself.
