I agree that it looks like a lot of tape. look at the color of the toes by the end of the video, I don't think they are getting very good circulation.

For those who think that it's using to much tape...remember the last time you sprained your ankle? Remember how ever little movement hurt it? Looks like that ankle is stabilized extremely well in that video. If you're looking to stabilize/immobilize an ankle, do it like this video. If you're just looking for some extra support to help prevent an injury, then do it without the mole skin and last set of figure 8's.

I feel that the mole skin and horizontal figure 8s are a bit too much... My athletic trainer used to tape my ankle in that similar fashion (without the above mole skin/horizontal figure 8s)...it gives you great support but its a pain in the butt to exercise with that much tape.

I wonder if that is too tight for blood circulation.

How to tape sprain ankle
We are now going to do a taping for a freshly sprain ankle that needs more support. One of the more important things is that the foot is flex at 90 degrees we are going to put a pair of frim less pads to keep the tape from cutting over the region. We are trying to support the lateral side of the foot where the most common sprains take place. We are going to keep the healing less pads on then we are going to put the under wrapped on, the under wrapped skin coverall the surface of the skin so that we do not irritate it. And it also makes a whole lot easier to get the tape off when we are done. If we do it right it does not really matter that we have not shave the ankle at this point . Some people still believe in about most people done.
The procedure now is to start off with a pair of anchor the hold of the tape down two or three what ever works best. Keeping the foot flex at 90 degrees. When they are going to add a couple of starch to tape chop. I like to use three I find it covers the area very well. We are trying to make sure the tape was completely flat onto the surface as we lay it down. And then we are going to put a couple more anchors on there.
The next step in the process is to do hallux we start medially and work are way behind the heel around and lock off and then we come around and do the other side. This tape job differs from the standard tape job and we are now going to add exert support to the process. We put another anchor on a very bottom of the foot and what we are going to do is were going to then add a strip of moleskin. I use two inch for smaller ankle, three inch for larger ankle. And were are going to add moles skin is differ wearing another ster and we are just trying to find that angle that works to come up and press it on there and now we are giving a whole lot more sport to tape job. We are then going to anchor that moleskin down all the way as well. And we are going to close all the seen. And we are doing a little bit of a basket web here to work our way up and continue giving a little more support. The extra tape has a great job in keeping everything where is it is to be. And then I am going to comeback and add figure eights to the tape job coming around the front to here. One more and then the last part of the tape job is to add some horizontal figure 8s but you do not see this often but they really use help support the tape job. And to those horizontal 8s will make it difference and giving extra support to the procedure. So that is your tape job for a freshly sprain ankle that needs a excessive support
