Hi, everyone. Today, I am going to perform and teach you how to do the Coin Fold Illusion. I have a regular US dollar gold coin here and a piece of paper. We are going to take and wrap the coin in the paper just like so. First I am going to cover it up and you can see that is still inside, okay. We are going to take and wrap the paper around the coin, just like so and we are going to take and wrap it around on this side as well and even if you going to take and bring the bottom of like this and fold this, there is no way the coin can escape, okay.
Now which is really neat, is this is just an illusion, watch. Sometimes it is a little hard to push at first but with a little magic you can wrap a coin right in a half, you can even tear once more and you can tear it again just like that.
Now I am going to teach you how to do the Coin Fold Illusion. This is a great effect that street magic you can do it anywhere you want you just need a piece of paper and a coin, okay. Should have a coin here in my pocket here we go I got another one of this dollars. All you need I recommend either a half dollar or use one of this dollar gold coins are very visual and you need a piece of paper.
I recommend you use a 4x6 inch piece of paper. Now what you do is you start by placing the coin in the center of the paper, okay and you hold it last. Lastly, just like this you take and you bring the paper over but here is the trick. You do not bring this and jive away down, okay. You leave about a half inch at the bottom, okay you show everybody the coin is still in there, okay. Now here what you do at this point you turn it around like this and you fold one end across and you fold the other end just like this.
Now here is what I am seeing, okay here is my view. The coin is still in there, okay you can see it but there is a pocket I have created, okay. Now what you do is this is their view this is what you see, you tell them you are going to take the bottom and tuck it up.
Now from their point of view, they think you are closing the closing the coin in the paper and there is no way it can escape. What is really happening is there is a pocket right there, okay. So what I do from my point of view is I am holding up like this and you can even let them feel the coin it is there, okay.
Now let me show you what I do behind the scenes. I place the paper oops, sorry about that you do not want to do that when you perform. You want to place it in and applied pressure as your holding because if you do not it will fall out just like what happened and if you just stop applying the pressure that coin will just come right into your hand, okay.
Now at this point, once you have the coin palm, you can start tearing this piece of paper in a half and they will just go wow because they expect the coin to be in there, okay. So from their point of view you torn right through a coin and then you can take and tear you can give them one piece and say look tear, okay and tear the other piece and it is completely gone, okay.
And you can do whatever you want with this coin you could reproduce it behind someone’s ear whatever you could just make it disappear but the illusion is done once you tear all the paper, okay and one way to get rid of the coin is you have all this paper you could just set this on top of the coin, show them all the pieces and just say okay we are going to rid of dollars and we are going to do another magic time.
So it is very amazing think of what we did, you put a coin in the piece of paper, you wrap the paper around it from their point of view they think the coin is trapped in the paper and then you tear right through both ways seemingly tearing right through the coin.
It is a great illusion, great street magic, practice, practice, practice and then go out and perform. I think you will have a lot of fun with this one.
