Hi, I am Bob from Toronto Canada. This video is about how to tune a guitar to standard tuning. I will first name the strings starting at the bottom. E first, then the second B, the third G, then the fourth D and the fifth A, then the sixth, the top one is E.
The first string to tune is the fifth, which is the A here, fifth string. To get a A note you can use a tuning fork like so or you can use a guitar pitch pipe, like so. Both of which you can buy at any guitar store. Okay, so first we tune the A string which is the fifth and I will use the guitar pitch pipe to get the A note, there it is there, okay so that is A fifth.
To tune the fourth string D, put your finger on the fifth fret on the A string and play the fourth string too. They should sound the same to get in tune. So you tune the fourth string up until it sounds the same.
To tune to G string which is the third, put your finger on the fifth fret of the fourth string and play the G string, it should sound the same. So tune the G string up. Keep doing it a few times until you get it right. Come slowly and then you are almost there. There they sound both the same.
And to tune the B string, put your finger on the third string, forth fret and play the open second string. Same as before tune up and we are down whichever, in my case it is up. It is a little high so down a bit and there, they sound the same now.
To tune the last string, the bottom string E. Put your finger on the second string, fifth fret and put an open first string E. Again, they have to sound the same so tune up, just go bit of the time with a little bit of time and we are almost there. It is a little high and there they are the same.
Finally, you have to tune the top string, the sixth, what you do for that is that the fifth string A is already in tune. So to tune the top string put your finger on the top string fifth fret and play the A as well, sixth and fifth. The sixth string is lower, so let us tune up a bit and up a bit and a little bit more. We are almost there. Too high and there I got it.
I recommend tuning the strings up with a pitch going up, like that. Going up instead of tuning down, you do not want to tune down the string but tune up and it will stay in tune longer.
I hope this video has been helpful and if you have any questions just message me.
