Hello! I am going to give you a step-by-step photo effect tour to spice up yours or anyone else's photos. Okay, this is what our final outcome will be; it will be a half grayscale, half sketched image. Alright, well let's just get rid of this here. And we are going to go open up our image, we go to File, then we go to Open, and you are going to browse for your image, and this is my image here. Alright, it is already in grayscale, I am going to show you how do it in a second.
And we are going to duplicate this layer; this is why we don't hurt the actual image itself. So whenever we do something wrong we can always back step without hurting the actual image, and don't have to restart. Then go to Image, Adjustments and this is what you do, you go Desaturate and it will give you this black and white version. But we are going to go to Invert here first.
Okay now once that is inverted, we are going to go to the Layers palette and we are going to change the Style to Color Dodge and it's going to give you this white overall look, but don't worry that's exactly what we want. Okay, now this is where we are going to our sketched affect apply it now. We are going to go up to Photo and Gaussian blur. Okay for this photo I have the radius set for 15, for yours you can just have fun with it and chose wherever you think looks best.
Okay now I think that looks pretty good right there. Now this is where the cool good part comes in; we are going to go to your rectangular Marquee tool, just like that there, and now what we are going to do is we are going to go to the center of the photo, the top center, we are going to drag down and then to the left or to the right if you want to use that side, and I simply do that.
Now we are going to up to your Feather and we are going to set it to 20. So this softens the edges, so it doesn't look like it is just cut. It smooths your length and we are just going to simply hit Delete. And this is what we get.
That was your How-To video on an easy way to make your photos a little more exciting and eye- catching with Photoshop.
